Parents Appreciation Nite (PAD) – Saturday, May 19^th @ 5:00pm in the MPB

-          Please check your emails for the Evite sent out by Kelly ~ please RSVP on time!

-          Food and Dessert Committees will need to be at the church at 9:30am. Meeting place will be determined.

-          Everyone else, please come at 1:30pm to help decorate/set up.

-          We will have some time to practice the program.

-          The even starts at 5:00pm – so please remind your parents to be on time.

Family Fair – Saturday, June 2^nd, 1:00pm-5:00pm at Castelar

-          Please arrive at church at 11:30am to help set up

-          We will be bringing tables, chairs, and canopies over to Castelar

-          Please bring all your supplies with you

-          Although we will not require you to stay the entire time, please work it out within the members of your booth so that there is constantly a group there to help manage the booth and to interact with the kids/adults visiting the booths

-          If you can, please stay afterwards to help clean up

-          We realize that many of you have SAT testing on that day, please come as soon as you can after the test.

-          We will be doing our performance program – it may be once or twice, that’s still to be determined.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD ANNOUCEMENTS!!

-          Each group should meet together in the Courtyard area (outside of MPB) at their designated time before going to their designated class.

-          Bring flyers/brochures with you to make the announcements.

-          I will have extra flyers/brochures with me, and there will be more available in the HSMT mailbox as well.

-          If you run out of flyers/brochures while you’re doing your announcements, tell them that there will be more available in the HSMT mailbox (#95)

-          Be considerate and do not take too much of their time giving the announcement. Within your groups, decide who will talk about what and in what order so that your announcement will go smoothly.

-          If you get a question you don’t know the answer to, tell them you will get back to them, and then come ask me, Elaine, Jenn or Jason.

Here are the things to cover in your announcement:

-          Introduce who you are and what group you’re from (High School Missionary Team) and that HSMT will be facilitating the Operation Christmas Child project this year.

-          Explain what Operation Christmas Child is and what to do:

o       Operation Christmas Child is a program organized by Samaritan's Purse.  Samaritan's Purse is an organization created by Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham. 

o       Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love.  Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own language.

o       Last year, HSMT collected 260 shoeboxes – this year our goal is 300.

o       The shoeboxes are to be filled with small toys, toiletries, school supplies, hard candy, small clothing items, etc.

o       The shoeboxes need to be gift-wrapped (lid & box separately)

o       $7 needs to be included with each shoebox to cover shipping

-          HSMT will have an information/collection table in the Courtyard outside the New Sanctuary on Oct. 22, Oct. 29, Nov. 5 & Nov. 12 before and after the 11:00am English Worship Service

o       Anyone is welcome to drop off their shoebox at the table
